Donald Allen Phillips died June 13. He was 77.

Phillips was a graduate of Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He was called into the ministry at age 16 and later served as a pastor for churches in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.

The Alabama churches Phillips led as pastor include Chulafinnee Baptist Church, Heflin, Cleburne Baptist Association; First Baptist Church, Headland, Judson Baptist Association; and the former Wilmer Avenue Baptist Church, Anniston.

He also served as an interim pastor for several churches and was a teacher and guidance counselor for 18 years at Wellborn High School, Anniston.

Phillips was a member of First Baptist Church, Pell City, at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katie G. Phillips; three daughters and six grandchildren.  (TAB)
