Annette began working at The Alabama Baptist on Sept. 16, 2019. Prior to joining The Alabama Baptist, she had more than 25 years of human resources experience with two local insurance companies in the Birmingham area. Annette and her high school sweetheart, Barry, have been married for 40 years. They are active members of NorthPark Baptist Church, Trussville, and have one daughter, Alexandra, who is an English professor at Jefferson State Community College. Alexandra and her husband, Will, have one son, Liam. Dianna Cagle

Dianna Cagle, Production Manager

Dianna joined The Alabama Baptist team in March 2021 as the production manager. She is originally from the Birmingham area and earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from the University of Alabama. She has a master’s of divinity degree in biblical counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. She has been a page designer/copy editor for several newspapers: The Union-Recorder (Milledgeville, Ga.); The Decatur DAILY (Decatur, Ala.) and the Birmingham Post-Herald, where she was wire editor and assistant copy desk manager. She has worked in every department at some point: features, sports, editorial and news. She served as a US/C-2 missionary with the North American Mission Board in church and community ministries. Dianna reopened The Christian Ministry Center, helping with food, clothing and financial assistance to 11 zip codes in and around Batesburg-Leesville, S.C. She helped the Lexington Baptist Association with events, public relations and general office work. She spoke in churches and associations about mission work and served as one of the camp missionaries to Camp La Vida, a ministry of South Carolina Woman’s Missionary Union. Prior to starting at TAB Media Group, she was assistant editor for the Biblical Recorder, North Carolina’s Baptist news journal for more than 14 years.

Debbie Campbell, Director of Communications

Debbie began working at The Alabama Baptist on Jan. 3, 1998. She served as a proofreader with the editorial department and local edition coordinator before assuming the role of director of circulation and public relations on April 1, 2005. She became director of communications in January 2019. Her earlier employment includes management positions with Neiman Marcus and Dallas Fire & Life Insurance Co. A native Texan, Debbie graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in the fields of speech and journalism. Margaret Colson

Margaret Colson, Special Assignments Editor

Margaret Colson is an award-winning communications professional. Her passion is to tell the stories of how God is at work in the world. She earned a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Georgia and a master of divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). In December 2020, she completed a doctor of ministry at NOBTS, with a focus on crisis communications. Margaret officially began her role with The Alabama Baptist in January 2020, although she has been a contributing writer for The Alabama Baptist for several years. Throughout her career, Margaret has written for the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, LifeWay Christian Resources, and numerous state Baptist newspapers. In addition to her work with The Alabama Baptist, Margaret serves as executive director of two denominational communications organizations: Baptist Communicators Association and Association of State Baptist Publications. Margaret is a marathon runner and avid traveler. She is married to Keith Colson. Margaret and Keith live in Marietta, Georgia, where they are members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Maggie Evans

Maggie Evans, Special Assistant to the Editor

Maggie rejoined The Alabama Baptist in August 2020. She began with TAB as a summer intern in May 2012 and first joined the staff in June 2014 as an office assistant before becoming a permanent editorial employee later that year. Between stints with TAB, Maggie served as a financial coordinator for Gooch Family Dental, acting as a patient advocate with insurance companies. She graduated magna cum laude from Troy University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in communication studies. Sarah Gill, Digital Services Associate

Sarah joined The Alabama Baptist team in April 2017 as a customer relations representative. She is originally from Albertville and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in landscape design and horticulture from Auburn University. She has experience in church software training and customer technology support. Sarah and her husband, Bryan, have a son, Charles, and a daughter, Perri. Lauren C. Grim, Creative Services Manager

Lauren has been employed by The Alabama Baptist since Aug. 10, 2004. She joined the staff as an editorial intern and then was appointed part-time web/advertising assistant on Jan. 1, 2005. On April 1, 2006, she became the full-time graphic designer. She became the creative services manager in January 2019. A native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Lauren received a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design at Mississippi College. She has earned 16 hours in theological studies at Beeson Divinity School. James Hammack

James Hammack, Digital Services Manager

James joined The Alabama Baptist team in November 2016 and began full time in January 2019 as Digital Services Manager. Pam Holt, Sales Representative

Pam has been employed at The Alabama Baptist since July 2008 and moved to an outside advertising sales representative position in 2015. Prior to coming to the paper she owned a retail business in the Fairhope area, worked with an international company as corporate manager of benefits in human resources and also has several years of sales experience working in the health care industries. She was one of the original people to organize and start Riverchase United Methodist Church, Hoover, where she remains a member. Jessica Ingram, Event Coordinator

Jessica has been a full-time employee of The Alabama Baptist since July 1, 2018. She began working as an editorial and marketing intern in October 2017. Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and achieved a certificate of publishing from the Denver Publishing Institute in August 2017. Deborah Lowery, Financial Assistant

Deb has been employed with The Alabama Baptist since 2009. She spent more than 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, wife and home educator to two of her children and one of her grandchildren. Prior to that she worked in real estate accounting for 15 years, the last six years of that time employed with Sloss Development Group as their financial assistant and assistant property manager. Deb and her husband, Wes, have served with Mayan Missions in Central America, Belize evangelizing and working with several vacation Bible schools. Melanie McKinney, Advertising Manager

Melanie joined the staff of The Alabama Baptist in February 2001 as the advertising assistant and became advertising manager in January 2019. Prior to coming to The Alabama Baptist she was an administrative assistant at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Birmingham, for nine years. She also taught kindergarten for two years right after college and later served on staff with the Weekday Education program at Dawson. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University. Carrie Brown McWhorter, Content Editor

Carrie has worked with The Alabama Baptist since 1995, when she joined the editorial staff as a part-time news writer. From 1996 to 2018 she contributed many articles and worked on special assignments as a freelance writer and editor. On Jan. 1, 2019, she was appointed full-time content editor. Carrie graduated from the University of Alabama in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Spanish. She received a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Alabama in 1995 and a Master’s Degree in English from the University of West Georgia in 2003. From 1998 to 2018 she taught English at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton. Carrie and her husband, Owen, live in Fruithurst, Alabama. They have one son, Avery, and one daughter, Stella. Hannah Muñoz, Digital Editor

Hannah first came to The Alabama Baptist as an intern in March 2014 where she served with the editorial team until her graduation from Samford University in May 2017. She then transitioned to a full-time role in customer relations and became the new digital editor at the beginning of 2019. While serving as an intern, Hannah also worked part-time at WIAT-CBS 42 News in Birmingham. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in journalism and mass communication and Spanish and a minor in Latin American studies. Jennifer Rash

Jennifer Davis Rash, President and Editor-in-Chief

Jennifer Davis Rash serves as president and editor-in-chief of The Alabama Baptist. A native of Phil Campbell, Rash earned her associate’s degree from Northwest Community College, her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Alabama and her master of theological studies from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham. Rash came to TAB in January 1996 as a news writer and worked her way up to managing editor then executive editor before being named editor-elect in 2015 and then the first female editor of a major Baptist newspaper beginning Jan. 1, 2019. Throughout the years she has helped lead the editorial team to win more than 250 national awards. While on staff at TAB, Rash has served in a variety of national and local leadership roles. She served as president of Baptist Communicators Association and vice president of Associated Church Press, two national organizations for professional Christian communicators, and in various positions with Religion Communicators Council, Evangelical Press Association and Alabama Press Association. She is currently president of the Association of State Baptist Publications. Before coming to TAB she served for two years with the International Mission Board and Caribbean Christian Publications. Grace Thornton, Special Assignments Editor

Grace Thornton has worked in the editorial department of The Alabama Baptist in different capacities since 2003. She also served in international missions for several years. Grace earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English from Mississippi College and has done some graduate study at the University of Alabama and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
