PUNJAB PROVINCE, Pakistan — Armed Muslim men opened fire upon Christians at a market, killing a 14-year-old male.
Sunil Masih, who was fatally shot, and the other Christians were at a market Feb. 5 in Gujranwala District of Punjab province, reports the news services Christian Daily International and Morning Star News.
According to the teen’s uncle, one of the assailants “shouted that no Christian in the area should be left alive.” After this, Sunil — an eighth grader — was shot in the chest.
A bullet grazed one of the other boys.
The news services state in a Feb. 6 report that the gunmen were still at large.
This was the second such attack in Punjab province in only a few months. Twenty-year-old Farhan Ul Qamar, a Christian and a medical technician student, was gunned down Nov. 9 in front of family at his home in Sialkot District.
Pakistan is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
