Pastors and lay leaders from 17 of the 21 churches in Judson Baptist Association recently met for a Follow Jesus conference to discuss individualized, organized strategies for reaching Henry County for Christ.
Director of Missions George Thompson hosted the meeting, which featured a presentation on the ALONE strategy by Sammy Gilbreath, director of evangelism for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM).
According to the SBOM, the ALONE strategy concept is a customized intentional evangelism strategy designed especially for bivocational and/or single-staff churches.
Gilbreath explained how each church could design its own evangelistic strategy for growth and walked the leadership teams through the process of identifying and describing key areas of ministry and people within their churches.
This information will be used to help develop a specific strategy for each church.
Once the strategies have been developed, Thompson will reassemble the church leaders to discuss and review implementation options as well as to offer resources and support. Gilbreath agreed to return in the fall to assess the churches’ progress and offer additional input and suggestions.
Thompson’s future plans for the association also include building a multiphase program for outreach over a two to three year period. (TAB)
