ABUJA, Nigeria — Twenty-six Christians have been slain since early December in one of Nigeria’s states as the onslaught against believers in that country continues.
Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped.
Fifteen were killed Dec. 22 when Muslim Fulani herdsmen raided Danwal village in Nigeria’s Plateau state. Media outlets Christian Daily International and Morning Star News report that a 1-year-old baby and a young teenager were among those slain.

‘Gruesome’ killings
A local leader said the “gruesome” killings of the 15 occurred “just a stone’s throw from a military checkpoint along the Vom-Ganawuri Highway.”
The assailants executed the attack during government curfew hours, the local official said.
Fulani killed three more Christians on Jan. 6 in Sha village, a source told the news outlets.
Eight others were slain Dec. 5–7 in the areas of Mom Tangur, Fakkos, Kwatas and Maikatato, another source told the news agencies.
Christian leaders believe the Fulani desire to take the lands of Christians and impose Islam.
Nigeria is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
