ABUJA, Nigeria — In the final weeks of December, more than 40 Christians were killed in Nigeria for their faith and 53 were kidnapped.
As a worship service was beginning Christmas Day, Muslim Fulani herdsmen and terrorists invaded Angwan Aku village in Kaduna State, reported Morning Star News. One Christian was killed and 53 others were kidnapped.
Forty Christians were slain Dec. 18 in Mallagum and three more Dec. 23 in Kagoro.
In the Mallagum attack, some people burned to death in the 102 houses that Fulani terrorists set ablaze, said Benjamin Bala, a Roman Catholic priest. “Six families were entirely wiped out.”
Kagoro resident Emmanuel Gandu said the herdsmen and terrorists’ continued onslaught on his town is “an endless genocide.” Kagoro, he said, has experienced 13 deadly raids of Fulani terrorists in the last 11 years.
Christian leaders in Nigeria believe the Fulani want to take over the lands of Christians and to impose Islam, stated Morning Star News.
Nigeria is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian. Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped.
