EAST CULLMAN ASSOCIATION
On April 14, First Baptist Church, Fairview, celebrated its bicentennial anniversary. Pastor David Chambers spoke during the special service. Current church members shared their favorite memories of the church.
The church’s music director, Todd Holcomb, led the congregation in singing hymns, the choir sang a special song and DeeDee Carden, April Pearson and Drew Pearson performed as a trio.
Johnie Sentell, representing the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, and Randy Makemson, director of missions for East Cullman Baptist Association, presented plaques to the church. Randall Shedd, from the Alabama House of Representatives presented a resolution from the State House and Senate.
A history of the church was published and available for purchase.
“It was impressive to see everyone work together to make the celebration successful,” said church member Bill Cobb.
Skits featuring highlights from church history were performed on Sundays leading up to the anniversary. The church held special services each month in 2019, and the church plans to continue the celebration through the rest of the year.
