Former Alabama Baptist pastor Jimmy L. Maddox dies at 75

Former Alabama Baptist pastor Jimmy L. Maddox died May 20. He was 75.

At the time of his passing Maddox lived in Dothan where he had moved with his family during his teen years. After high school he began working in the family business, then for Georgia Highway Express. He later attended Baptist Bible Institute (now The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville) and began three decades of pastoral ministry — 1976 to 2006.

During those years Maddox served as pastor of eight churches including Union Hill Baptist, Cottonwood and Pleasant Hill Baptist, Gordon.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Becky; daughters, Tina and Nikki; sons, Todd and Scott; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. (Grace Thornton)
