See You at the Pole 2019 brings hundreds together at schools across Alabama, nation, world

Students gathered early at schools across Alabama and the world this morning (Sept. 25) to join together for See You at the Pole 2019.

Several students from Parkview Baptist Church, Eufaula, participated in See You at the Pole at Eufaula High School. The church will follow up the morning prayer event with a youth rally tonight at 6 p.m., according to the church Facebook page. An estimated some 200 students gathered at Hewitt-Trussville High School near Birmingham, according to a tweet by a local pastor. Other reports came in from Muscle Shoals High School, Berry High School, Highland Home School, Coosa Valley Elementary (Cropwell) and Cullman Middle School.

See You at the Pole is an annual student-led day of prayer that gives students of faith, regardless of denomination, an opportunity to join together at their school’s flagpole or another location and pray for their school, friends, families, churches and communities.

“See You at the Pole is a ‘moment.’ We hope adults and students will consider turning that moment into a movement by praying every day,” said Doug Clark, national field director of the National Network of Youth Ministries which coordinates See You at the Pole promotion.

This year marks the 29^th anniversary of See You at the Pole. The 2019 theme, “IF…,” is drawn from 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Students also are challenged this year to observe Global Week of Student Prayer September 22–28.

See You at the Pole is partnering with Claim Your Campus (ClaimYourCampus.com) to encourage students to daily prayer at their schools. Resources and training for both ministries are available on a shared mobile app, “Campus Prayer.” CYC currently supports students praying daily on 1,000 US schools.

Churches can show support for schools by sponsoring a “Pray for Schools Sunday” emphasis. Participants can recognize and pray for Christian students, educators and schools in their congregations. Resources are available at PrayForSchools.com.
