Longtime Mobile-area worship pastor Ed Keyes died Feb. 25. He was 78.
During his nearly 60-year ministry, he served 31 years as associate pastor in music at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Mobile, 25 of those years serving with pastor Fred Wolfe. After that, Keyes served five years at First Baptist Church, Opelika — “a great church with such loving people,” he called them — before Wolfe asked him to help him start Luke 4:18 Fellowship, Mobile, in 2008.
Keyes retired as worship pastor there in January 2020.
Earlier in his ministry, he also served churches in Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee.
Keyes is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jan; son, David; daughter, Marci; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
