First Baptist Church Hurtsboro celebrates 150th anniversary

First Baptist Church Hurtsboro celebrated its 150th anniversary Dec. 19.

Marty Holley, director of missions for Russell Association, was the guest speaker, and pastor Christopher Webb led music with help from guest Cheryl Barrow. Maude Bowden, who has been a member since 1958 and served as the church clerk since 1981, presented the church’s history with Nathan Smith.

Calvin Milford presented a certificate from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. “It was a blessing to be part of a celebration of something that has kept going. God is not finished with us,” Bowden said.
