By sharing messages of hope and healing at his concerts, Christian recording artist Jeremy Camp desires to connect people to Christ through his music and message as he tours the world.  

This fall, Camp will perform concerts throughout Australia and New Zealand on his “I Still Believe Tour.” In December he will perform in venues across the United States on a Christmas tour with the contemporary Christian group NewSong.

Whenever Camp takes the stage, his goal is to provide a life-changing encounter with God as he shares with audiences his own story and struggles.

“So many people today are feeling hopeless and don’t know where to turn,” Camp told The Alabama Baptist. “My prayer is that they will be led to Jesus and will seek Him with all of their heart. If they only knew the power of lifting up the name of Jesus, crying out to Him, seeking His face, spending time and intimacy with our King, how different their lives would be.”

Musical outlet

After the loss of his wife Mellissa to cancer in 2001, Camp turned to music as an outlet for his emotions and to draw him close to the Lord.

He wrote poignant songs such as “I Still Believe” and “Walk by Faith” to chronicle his loss and remind him that Jesus was still with him in the midst of the trials and tears. 

Since then “I Still Believe” has deeply resonated with listeners and became a No. 1 hit.

Camp also has detailed his journey in a memoir that was made into a feature film produced by the Erwin Brothers in 2020.

In 2003 Camp found love again with fellow Christian singer Adrienne Liesching and remarried, and they have three children.

On the other side of the personal valley, Camp realizes how his painful past has shaped his testimony. He remains committed to sharing his life experiences and personal struggles in hopes of leading people to Christ and proclaiming God’s faithfulness. 

Motivation

Over the past 20 years Camp has garnered five Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association, one Grammy nomination, three American Music Award nominations and four ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Awards. In 2010 he was named Billboard’s No. 2 Christian artist of the decade.

Although his music has received numerous awards and earned 41 No. 1 radio hits, Camp noted the accolades and achievements aren’t what motivate him. 

“When I felt God calling me to music, it was an opportunity to share His Word and to minister with the gospel,” Camp explained. “For those who already have a relationship with Christ, I hope they will desire to know Him more. For those who don’t, I hope they will come to know Him. That’s why I always share my testimony and the gospel as much as I can at events.

“I always want to share Scriptures, new things that God is teaching me and try to be sensitive to how the Holy Spirit is moving. I truly hope people will walk away with a deeper desire to draw close to the Lord.”
