As singer/songwriter Brandon Heath performs concerts around the country, he challenges audiences to look for ways they can intentionally be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around them.
“I think the longer I get to know the character of Jesus, the more compassion I have for others,” Heath told The Alabama Baptist. “It is one thing to have compassion and quite another to act on it. Most times, it starts with the people around you.”
With songs reflecting life-changing truth, Heath remains grounded on a firm foundation and focused on delivering music with a powerful message that changes lives for God’s glory.
Making an impact
“I love hearing stories about how the songs have impacted people in unexpected ways and how they have responded by finding redemption and restoration through a relationship with Christ,” Heath said
By taking a public platform and merging it with his heart for community, Heath has helped raise awareness for various missions organizations through the years including Young Life, International Justice Mission, Food for the Hungry, Restore International and other human rights groups.
Heath’s music and message have been well received and he has garnered numerous accolades and achievements, including an Emmy Award and eight Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down touring in 2020, Heath found a unique way to connect with audiences by performing small outdoor shows, by invitation only in select backyards across the country. They were called “Brandon in the Backyard” and were so well received that he continued offering them even when touring restrictions were lifted.
Upcoming shows
At Heath’s concerts he desires to share life lessons in hopes of inspiring others and leading them to a relationship with Christ. On Feb. 15 Heath will perform at Ridgecrest Baptist Church Dothan. The following day he will perform at Eastmont Baptist Church Montgomery.
“Hopefully people are not only connecting to the music but also to the message behind it,” Heath said. “I want people to realize that if they place their faith in Christ, they will be delivered from their old life, given a new lease on life and a fresh start to lead the kind of life God wants His children to lead — with our lives glorifying Him.”
With the songs on his latest album, “Enough Already,” Heath reminds listeners they are never alone. By opening up about his own struggles and insecurities, he wrote the title track as a way to relate to audiences and remind listeners to lay their burdens down.
“No matter how lost we feel or how difficult things get, Jesus sees us where we are and He’s going to see us through it,” Heath declared. “Where could we hide from Him? He pursues us. He sees us and stays with us.
“What I’m learning, what I am finding and what I am observing — those are the things that I am putting into songs. If I can lead people into the spirit of the Lord and maybe reveal some things in their life that God wants to be a part of as well, that’s the ultimate goal.”
