KAMPALA, Uganda — A Christian man was kidnapped and killed, apparently for helping Muslims come to faith in Christ Jesus.
The body of Kiisa Masolo, 45, was found in a bush area the day after seven men in Islamic attire abducted him from his home, a relative told Morning Star News.
Deep cuts were in Masolo’s head and neck.
With his body was a note written in Arabic stating, “We had warned you not to convert our Muslim brothers and sisters to Christianity, but you failed to heed to our warning. This has finally cost your life.”
The abduction occurred March 8 soon after Masolo got home to Nakitiku village in Sironko District. His mother, Norah Nandege, told Morning Star that Masolo had returned from street preaching in Nakaloke and Busajjabwankuba.
Masolo was a member of Calvary Temple in Mbale.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim. Uganda’s constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, the World Atlas reports.
