FBC Center Star pays off million dollar note decade after truck hits sanctuary

In March 2014, a semi truck hit the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Center Star in Killen. The church recently paid off a $1.1 million note stemming from that unexpected rebuilding project.

FBC Center Star pays off million dollar note decade after truck hits sanctuary

First Baptist Church Center Star, Killen, has paid off a $1.1 million note stemming from an unexpected rebuilding project launched a decade ago.

In March 2014, a semi truck hit the sanctuary, causing extensive damage. The sanctuary was rebuilt soon after, and on April 14 of this year (2024), church members celebrated not only the goodness of God for His physical protection the day the accident happened but also His financial provision through the final loan payment.

The church celebrated with a brunch during the Sunday School hour. Church leaders shared with The Alabama Baptist, “We continue to pray and thank Him as we are a light for Him in Center Star.” Ronny Jones is pastor.
