TEHRAN, Iran — Authorities in Iran arrested and jailed a Christian woman without any formal charges, and they may be trying to get her to tell about other Christians, relatives believe.
Morning Star News reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps took Mojdeh Falahi — a convert from Islam — into custody Sept. 9. She was still detained as of Oct. 2. No charges have been filed against her.
After going daily to a judge about her daughter’s plight, Mojdeh’s mother was granted a five-minute visit Sept. 30, during which Mojdeh reportedly cried inconsolably. Prior to that visit, family members had only a few minutes of contact with her.
Reports of interrogation
The Ministry of Intelligence for Iran operates the prison where Mojdeh is being held, a relative said. Her family believes Mojdeh is being interrogated to get information from her about other Christians.
Mojdeh’s brother-in-law, Sam Khosravi, told Morning Star that her family is concerned about her well-being. Khosravi, who was imprisoned in Iran in the past for his faith, said the government mistreats jailed Christian converts.
Iran is No. 9 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
