MOGADISHU, Somalia — A Somali man has been attacked by relatives three times since early May for being a Christian and leading Bible studies and prayer groups.
Mohammad Abdul, who put his faith in Christ in March, was attacked most recently on Oct. 5. Before that, he survived a May 5 knife attack and a July 8 assault, states Morning Star News.

Abdul told Morning Star that Muslim relatives accosted him Oct. 5 for holding a worship time at his home in the Lower Juba region. He suffered a hand fracture and facial lacerations.
During the May 5 attack, Abdul sustained injuries requiring hospitalization and his home was destroyed. While he was in the hospital, his in-laws took away his wife and children. Upon discharge, Abdul was able to find his family and move to another area, he said.
Long-term consequences
The July assault affected his ability to speak. His wife suffered a broken ankle, and the couple’s children also were beaten, Abdul stated.
Islam is the state religion of Somalia, whose constitution forbids propagating a different religion, Morning Star reports.
Somalia is No. 2 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
