KAMPALA, Uganda — Six extremists reportedly killed the organizer of an evangelistic event in Uganda, during which 18 Muslims put faith in Jesus Christ.
On Oct. 30, which was the third day of the six-day event in Uganda’s Kaliro District, the group of Islamist youths surrounded Emmanuel Dikusooka and his fellow church member Jack Mbulante as they traveled to their hotel, says Morning Star News, quoting Mbulante.

The Islamists demanded that Dikusooka and Mbulante renounce Christianity and convert to Islam. When the two men refused, the assailants reportedly struck Dikusooka’s head with an iron bar. Mbulante said he escaped by jumping into the nearby River Lumbuye and swimming to the other side. There, he asked some Christians to help him rescue Dikusooka, the father of three children.
When they reached Dikusooka, however, he was dead, lying in a pool of blood, states Morning Star.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim. Uganda’s constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, the World Atlas reports.
