In his latest book, “It’s Not About the dEvil,” author John DiGirolamo gives personal accounts of the enemy’s schemes to steal, kill and destroy. But most importantly, the book reminds readers that our only hope in life and death is Jesus.
“My fourth book is a dramatized nonfiction account of three compelling individuals,” DiGirolamo said. “I spent about a year writing the book and another nine months getting it published.
“The devil is busy in our modern society, and his greatest trick is convincing us that he doesn’t exist. I was inspired to write about three people who fight modern evil, showcasing these true stories which are an inspiration for people to stand up against evil in our society.”
A police officer, abortion doctor and exorcism ‘insider’
Girolamo profiles a police officer who battles online predators, an abortion doctor who becomes a pro-life advocate and an insider’s view of an exorcism.
“Before writing the book, I was not an expert on these topics,” DiGirolamo said. “I learned a lot through my research and included many pieces of information which are woven into the plotline.
“For example, I had no idea there was a training manual to prepare someone to become an exorcist, and the afflicted person needs to pass a medical and physical exam beforehand. They don’t merely throw some holy water on someone and call it a day.”
He noted the chapter about the police officer who goes undercover online as a 13-year-old girl is a story every parent should read. “It shows a real-life example of how a predator goes after a young teen,” he noted.
“These are real stories based on interviews, testimony and case files — the foundation for creating compelling plot and dramatization — so it includes action, dialogue and emotions. I worked closely with the person profiled to ensure an accurate representation of their life.”

DiGirolamo hopes the book gives readers several key takeaways including being on guard for spiritual warfare, the dangers of occult practices and life-transformation detailing the account of the abortion doctor now advocating for the unborn. The book also provides tips for parents on ways to protect children from online predators and teen sexting.
In 2025 DiGirolamo plans to start working on a book about people who find joy in difficult circumstances and how it impacts their relationship with God.
“I am an active parishioner in my local church and have been a lifelong traditional Catholic,” DiGirolamo said. “Over the past decade, I have felt the calling to deepen my relationship with Christ, and it has sent me on a journey to develop that relationship with Jesus. I participated in several Bible study classes, read many books and spent time in reflection, which influenced me to write about the topics that I do, including protecting the most vulnerable in our society.”
