ABUJA, Nigeria — The relentless onslaught against Christians in Nigeria has claimed as many as 100 lives in the past few weeks.
Nigeria is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian. Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped.

Recent violence
The following are recent reports from Christian Daily International-Morning Star News:
— Dozens of Christians were slain in Nigeria’s Benue state between March 28 and April 5 by groups of Muslim Fulani herdsmen. Among the targeted villages were Otobi and Otukpo town. One village — Olena — was attacked for days.
“Olena community was under siege for four days, beginning from [March 28 to March 31], with dozens of Christians killed and many other Christians abducted,” resident Agnes Oguche told the news outlet.
— Fifty-one Christians were killed in Nigeria’s Plateau state between April 8 and April 14, when Muslim Fulani herdsmen raided the villages of Zikke, Zogu, Zashi of Kperie, Kwall and Twin Hill. More than 40 were slain in Zikke, a source said.
— Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed nine Christians in Plateau state between March 13 and April 7. The attacks occurred in the villages of Hwrra, Hukke, Dundu, Yhwiba and Twin Hill.
