Presley Street Baptist Church, Atmore, celebrated its 75th anniversary July 27.
Otis Thames, former interim pastor and now pastor of Stockton First Baptist Church, was the guest preacher. James Brown was the guest musician. Church member John McMath reflected on the church’s past, and minister of music David Dobson focused on the present and future. Dalton Campbell, a former commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, made a special presentation to the church, with Pastor Arnold Hendrix accepting the commemorative plaque along with deacons James Bell, Wendell Wearren and Don Smith.
A painting of the original sanctuary by charter member Lucille Luker Centenni was on display. Special flower arrangements in the sanctuary and foyer were given in memory of charter members Wilson and Nora Luker Sasser by their daughter Joyce Sasser Brown and grandchildren.
