A 16-year-old Christian girl who was kidnapped, forced to marry her captor, raped and then sexually trafficked has been rescued and returned temporarily to her family.
The girl and her Muslim captor were taken into custody Aug. 14 after the legal group Christians’ True Spirit — acting on behalf of her parents — filed a court petition seeking her recovery, states Christian Daily International-Morning Star News.

Katherine Sapna of Christians’ True Spirit said the judge, upon seeing the teen’s declining health situation Aug. 15, released the girl temporarily into her parents’ custody to receive medical care.
The girl told the news outlet that the 28-year-old married Muslim man kidnapped her May 19 from the Mananwala area of Pakistan’s Punjab province. He forced her thumb prints onto papers that were used falsely to claim she converted to Islam and married him.
‘I couldn’t bear this torment anymore’
She said her captor repeatedly raped and drugged her and then forced her into prostitution. “I used to plead to God to give me death because I couldn’t bear this torment anymore,” she told the news outlet about her monthslong ordeal.
Sapna told Christian Daily-Morning Star that the abuse from the captor and the other men who exploited the girl ravaged the teen’s body and caused infection. The girl is malnourished and frail.
Pakistan is No. 8 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
