A high school student in Uganda was recently fatally stabbed by his brother one day after putting faith in Jesus Christ.
Shafiki Wasike, 19, was stabbed by Akram Kairoki shortly before the two were to arrive Sept. 1 at Mbale High School in Mbale city, Uganda, Morning Star News reported.

The previous day Wasike had put his faith in Christ during an open-air evangelistic event that featured a debate about Christianity and Islam. David Wabomba of Bible Evangelism Ministries, who defended Christianity in the debate, said the brother confronted and threatened Wasike that night about his conversion.
On the way to school the next day, Kairoki stabbed Wasike in the chest and ribs. Three students found him and had him transported to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he later died, Morning Star reported.
Police arrested and charged Kairoki with murder.
Freedom of religion?
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim, and the constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, World Atlas reported.
