A woman and her two children were beaten by her husband in October for putting faith in Jesus Christ, and he and a mob destroyed a church.
Morning Star News reports that Kulusumu Namulondo and her children — ages 12 and 9 — were hospitalized for three days in Mbale, Uganda, following the beating Oct. 13 in Muguti village. Namulondo said her husband, Soicha Zubairi, beat them for visiting Fit for Jesus Evangelical Church on Oct. 12.

At the conclusion of the church service that day, Namulondo received a call from her husband saying she was a “disgrace” for “misleading the children in joining a religion which is contrary to Islamic religion,” she told Morning Star.
She informed the church’s pastor, who arranged a safe place for her and the children.
Nonetheless, Zubairi located them Oct. 13.
Zubairi pulled Namulondo out of the house and beat her. When the children tried to intervene, he beat them, one child said.
Neighbors heard their cries and came to help. Zubairi fled.
On Oct. 15, he and a Muslim mob destroyed the church building, Namulondo said.
Closer look at Uganda
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim. Uganda’s constitution and laws allow freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, the World Atlas reports.
