A pastor preparing for an all-night prayer service at his church was recently attacked and left badly injured and unconscious.
Joseph Kanooni, pastor of Revival Mission Centre Church in Kaliro, Uganda, told Morning Star News the attack occurred while he was alone on the premises. Five Muslim men assaulted him with sticks and sharp objects.

He said the reason they gave for the attack was that he had encouraged Muslim children to attend church.
Kanooni knew two of the assailants, who previously had threatened him and with whom he had engaged in religious debates during public evangelistic events.
Two church members found Kanooni unconscious behind the church. One said they had him transported to a clinic for treatment, and he later was taken to a hospital.
Police were said to be searching for the five suspects, Morning Star reported.
Ongoing threats, attacks
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim, and the constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, World Atlas reported.
