A man who reportedly told a Christian woman to convert to his religion and marry him or be killed has been arrested.
Christian Daily International-Morning Star News reports that Rehman Irfan was arrested April 5 after allegedly making the threat against Laiba Javed, 20, while she visited Chak 6/11-L village in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Imran Masih, the woman’s uncle, said Irfan threatened Javed’s life in an April 2 letter if she did not convert to Islam and marry him. The letter gave an April 15 deadline for her to comply.
Letter delivered ‘at gunpoint’
Masih said Irfan and accomplices delivered the letter at gunpoint. Though police were notified of the incident, no action was initially taken.
On April 5, a cousin of Irfan disrupted a sunrise celebration, prompting Javed’s family to contact police once more.
Masih told Christian Daily-Morning Star that Irfan was arrested and booked for “issuing threats.”
Javed left the village for safety reasons, the news source states.
