Hoboken Baptist in Sweet Water celebrates 150th anniversary

Hoboken Baptist Church, Sweet Water, celebrated its 150th anniversary May 17. Four former pastors participated in the service: Johnny Tucker, Irby Weaver, ventriloquist Gary Snodgrass with his “partner” Scotty and Warren Huggins, who served the longest tenure of 20 years. Additional guests included Terry Lolley, Bethel Baptist Association’s mission strategist. Susan Norris and Ray Jordan provided special music. The church received a commemorative plaque from Anna Speir, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Pastor Larry Cox accepted the honor on behalf of the congregation. Lunch was served following worship.
