B. Gene Webb, longtime Alabama Baptist pastor, died Feb. 15. He was 85.
Born in Roanoke, Alabama, Webb was a graduate of the University of Alabama and Southern Seminary (1968). He was ordained to the ministry in 1967 at First Baptist Church Oxford. He served as a youth minister at FBC Gastonia, North Carolina, and Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Anniston. He was senior pastor of FBC Lanett, where he served for over 20 years, and FBC Tuscumbia, where he retired in 2002. He then joined Parker Memorial Baptist again, and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Webb served on the Judson College board of governors and on the board for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean; daughter, Lori; son, Kendel; and six grandchildren.
