Vincent Forras said he wasn’t “that religious” the moment he got buried in rubble at Ground Zero, but all of a sudden, he decided it was time to be.

Vincent Forras served as a volunteer firefighter at the South Salem Fire Department about 45 minutes north of Ground Zero in New York. On Sept. 11, 2001, he was nowhere near the site of the deadly terror attacks — he was fishing on his lake. But of course, that all changed quickly, and the next day, he was with his fellow firefighters working through the rubble of the fallen Twin Towers, looking for people.
