Pastor Franklin Kirksey, known for his writing and 47 years of ministry, dies

Franklin Lee Kirksey, former pastor of churches in Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina, died Sept. 11. He was 64.

A Mobile native, he was a pastor for over 30 years and in ministry for 47 years. His columns appeared in newspapers in Baldwin, Mobile, Washington and Clarke counties, as well as in Cascade, Montana. Among the churches he led was First Baptist Church Spanish Fort.

He is the author of “Sound Biblical Preaching: Giving the Bible a Voice” and “Don’t Miss the Revival! Messages for Revival and Spiritual Awakening from Isaiah.”

He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Sharon Swartz Kirksey,

Visitation will be Sept. 16 at FBC Silvehill at 9 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 10 a.m.
