Johnnie G. Golden, longtime educator and wife to a central Alabama pastor, died Sept. 17. She was 99.
She met her husband, Howard, while studying to be a teacher at Howard College (now Samford University). They were married in 1949. The couple had three children. Her husband served several churches in Decatur, Rockford, East Tallassee, Talladega, Calera, Phenix City and Lincoln as well as a church in Indiana. She taught middle and high school English and social studies. They retired in Lincoln, Alabama, and later moved to Wetumpka and to a retirerment home in Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Golden, and daughter, Angela Hughes.
She is survived by her son, Steve Golden; daughter, Amelia Barnes; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
