It was appropriate that the Mobile Press-Register featured comments about “The Da Vinci Code” on the same day they offered an article titled “Used book sale offers a cheap read.” At this used book sale, sponsored by the Mobile Public Library, you could buy all the books, videotapes and DVDs you could fit in a box for a dollar.
There have always been those who question the Bible. The noted French skeptic Voltaire said around 1750 that in 100 years, the Bible and Christianity would be swept from existence. Ironically less than 50 years after his death, his house was purchased as a place to print Bibles. An entire six-volume set of Voltaire’s works was once sold for 90 cents.
In time, you’ll be able to purchase a copy of “The Da Vinci Code” from a used book sale, which will offer a cheap read, while the Bible will remain the No. 1 best seller. “But the Word of the Lord endureth forever …” (1 Pet. 1:25).
