Tell me why, in heaven’s name, was an article on President Bush’s latest visit to Montgomery in order to promote his misguided effort for Social Security “reform” in the March 17 issue? Has the Alabama Baptist Convention become an affiliate of the Republican Party? While I would expect articles about gay marriage, abortion and faith-based initiatives to appear because of their obvious connection with Christian issues, I was taken aback to see space wasted on a totally secular issue.
I also was disturbed that you referred readers to your Web site to see the full text of his address. That may have been in error since I could not find the speech when I went to the site. Maybe you have come to your senses a bit and realized you should not serve as a shill for a partisan political organization after all.
