Thank you Alabama Baptists for the fantastic job you have accomplished in the area of disaster relief. During the four hurricanes that hit Florida and your state, your efforts were a great demonstration of our Savior’s love and command to go and to do.
As the director of chaplaincy for the North American Mission Board, I want to especially thank those disaster relief chaplains who left their own responsibilities and went to minister to others. You joined more than 80 chaplains from 18 state conventions in ministering and sharing the gospel. Thank you also to the wonderful work of your state chaplaincy leadership under the direction of Joe Bob Mizzell and Ray Baker. These men have certainly gone the extra mile and are to be commended.
You were part of a team that provided 7,000 individuals, who worked 35,000 man days, and which provided 1,752,902 free meals. There were approximately 509 deployed disaster relief units from 30 states.
