I found the article on Christian radio ministries by Anthony Wade very interesting. The quote from Jerry Solomon about lyrics being the only part of a composition that can make it Christian I find inconclusive. Wouldn’t God have a preference as to the rhythm, melodies, arrangements, performance also?
We find Him calling some kinds of music “noise,” and also their melodies/chantings are not to His liking either in Isaiah 5:12, 14:11; see also in Amos 5:23, 6:5. In fact He is very forceful and strong in saying, “Take them away from me, the noise of thy songs; I will not hear the melody of thy instruments.”
These people had much religious verbiage in their renditions. Though they invented instruments like David, they regarded “not the work of the Lord; neither consider the operation of His hands. … Thy pomp is brought down to the grave and the noise of thy instruments.”
