Homosexuality

Homosexuality

A letter to The Alabama Baptist published in the Oct. 30 issue asked, “Can a homosexual who becomes a Christian remain a homosexual?” The letter writer concludes that Holy Scripture gives a resounding “No!” to this question. It is an understandable conclusion.

However, in my own reading of the same Scriptures, I find that the Bible condemns homosexual practice similarly as other sinful practices are condemned. One can be a homosexual, the same as one can be a sinner, but one crosses the line of sin when a homosexual practices his or her sexuality, just as a sinner crosses that same line when he or she commits a sin. So, what is a homosexual to do when he or she becomes a Christian? You must either allow God to heal you of your homosexual practice, or you must serve God through celibacy for the rest of your life. Nothing short of God’s ultimate standard of biblical sexual purity should be practiced by His followers.
