Samford University music professor Sharon Lawhon is winner of the school’s 2005–2006 George Macon Memorial Award.
The honor recognizes a Samford educator who, through outstanding performance as a teacher, counselor and friend to students, demonstrates the ability to inspire students to greatness.
Lawhon, a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Birmingham Association, was presented a silver tray and a check by Samford Provost Brad Creed.
Lawhon, who joined the Samford faculty in 1994, is chair of the voice department in the university’s school of performing arts. She teaches voice, diction and music ministry with children. (SU)
