John 3:16

John 3:16

Do we have a right to make changes to God’s Holy Word? In light of Revelation 22:18–19 and Deuteronomy 4:2, it appears that we do not. Yet some modern-day biblical scholars, professors and pastors are doing so.
Most senior Christians have cherished and memorized John 3:16 as it appears in the King James Version of the Bible. This precious verse has been an inspiration to the faith and belief of most Christians for nearly four centuries, and I see no need for anyone to mess with it. That is why I was disappointed to see in the article “Want to know God?” of the Sept. 20 issue of The Alabama Baptist where the author changed the wording and thus the meaning of this very popular verse.
