The New Brothers Grimm and Their Left Behind Fairy Tales

The New Brothers Grimm and Their Left Behind Fairy Tales

David T. Morgan. Macon, Ga.: Mercer University Press, 2006. 192 pp. (Paperback).
This book is a critical review of the very popular “Left Behind” series, plus one book in a series called “Babylon Rising.” These series presume that a theological system called premillennial dispensationalism is the correct interpretation of the Bible. According to this view, the Church will be caught up in the air to be with Christ for seven years. During that time, this view maintains that non-believers will have an opportunity to accept Christ but they will pass through a seven-year period called the tribulation.

Then Christ will appear and be victorious in the battle of Armageddon. This approach also suggests that Christ will establish an earthly Kingdom lasting 1,000 years.

This reviewer agrees with the author that this theological view, while somewhat popular indeed, is not always consistent with the major thrust of biblical teaching.
