Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega continues to serve thousands as a place to be “nestled in God’s presence,” said Executive Director Buster Taylor.
It’s a place for Alabama Baptists to get refreshed, he said. “While striving to meet your facility and staff needs with excellence, we have the opportunity to serve God by serving others.”
Shocco Springs will celebrate 60 years in 2008, a milestone the conference center will mark starting with a Christmas at the Springs event in December. The event will commemorate the 1.25 million lives that have been touched by Shocco, as well as the 71,000 decisions registered there over the past six decades.
“This milestone will be a reminder of our heritage and a challenge for the future,” Taylor said.
In the past 12 months, more than 54,000 have visited Shocco, according to the entity’s report to state convention messengers Nov. 14. Taylor said more than 1,100 of those individuals made decisions for Christ.
On the campus, renovations have been completed this year in the Bagley Center and 80 percent of the Springview motel rooms. Wireless Internet and new beds have also been added in some buildings. (TAB)
