Fears of death and of failing to appease dead ancestors are huge issues in the Lomwe culture. A volunteer team from Truth Tabernacle of Praise (Atlanta/Stone Mountain area) taught the biblical story of death in two strategic locations in Mozambique with the goal of setting folks free from those fears.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will bring to mind this biblical story of death and will challenge the participants to share it freely with others in their spheres of influence.
For several years, missionaries Jeff and Peg Shrum have been working on writing down eTakwane, the language of the Takwane (Tah-kwah-nee) people, for the first time.
Pray that as the Takwane people receive the gospel in their heart language for the first time, many will choose to follow Christ. Pray that the Lord sends a church planter soon, who can make use of the new materials the Shrums are generating in eTakwane.
Pray for us as we continue to delve into cultural barriers of the people groups in which we work. Pray that we will deal with frustrations over cultural clashes in a loving and understanding way. Pray that we “love ’em like Jesus.”
