Crossroads
“Marching” appeals to the rhythmic side of the listener’s brain right away.

Daryl Williams has written a fresh tune for the chorus of “When the Saints Go Marching In,” adding two brand new verses and an original bridge.

Karen Williams keeps the upbeat mood going as she steps forward for “I’ve Come Here to Tell You.” It’s Shannon Knight’s turn in the spotlight to sing “Between Two Thieves” next. Staging this song as a trio may be risky, though, no matter who stands in the middle.

Daryl’s poetic imagery comes to the forefront on “A Homesick Angel,” a fun song with fiddle decorations.
The next song is worshipful, continuing to focus on angels for the first half (“that’s why they cry holy”) and then shifting the focus to Christians on the second (“that’s why we cry holy”).

“Ready for Wings” is another fun song about Heaven. The biblical story of Joseph is retold in “When God Has Another Plan.”

“I Don’t Sail Alone” is an upbeat cut that sounds like it may have originally been written for the Kingsmen to record. The Perrys did record “Why Trouble the Master” in 2006. The Perrys version is more solid vocally, but the Daryl Williams Trio has the stronger arrangement.

“Marching” closes out as it began. “His Hand on Me” is another fun toe-tapper. Set your CD player to repeat and you’ll notice how closely the key and rhythms of the final track match up with the opener. You may even mistake Track 1’s intro for a Track 10 reprise. Whether this was intentional or not, it makes for a great bookend effect.
