Voices Won
Easier to Live
Crossroads Music
I’ve always loved the blend of family groups. Brothers, in particular, can have a rich, full blend — can you say "Gatlin Brothers"? Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin made you stop what you were doing when you heard them sing their first notes together.
Southern gospel has its very own Gatlin-like brotherly blend known as Voices Won from Dalton, Ga. I am not saying they are the Gatlins — there’s only one Gatlin Brothers — but Jaron (tenor), Shantell (baritone) and Staclynn Faulkner (lead) do have that special brotherly blend that I think will be embraced by southern gospel fans. Many may remember Staclynn as lead vocalist for Malachi and Jericho.
"Easier to Live" is the first national release by this new Crossroads Music trio. It contains 11 songs, seven of which were written by Jaron. Shantell wrote one song.
Jaron wrote "Happy" and "God’s Big Hand," and these are two of my favorites because they feature the trio’s tight harmonies from beginning to end.
To me, the brothers are at their best when they sing together as a unit.
"He Lived to Love the Lord," written by Doug Little and Marty Funderburk, is a hit song. It’s a message that will resonate with every Christian.
I’ve known these young men for several years and can tell you they are quite serious about their music and their call. Voices Won, I hope this is the first of many wonderful projects from you.
