‘Warming’ message

An excerpt from The Andalusia Star-News, Thursday, March 13, 2008: "The global realization of climate change has hit Covington County’s doorsteps as local Baptist churches are taking the initiative to ‘go green.’ At a Southern Baptist Conference held in North Carolina March 17, a declaration was made on the environment and climate change. In the declaration, ministers are urged to preach more about the environment."

I am a Southern Baptist, an Alabama Baptist, a Covington County Baptist and a local Baptist. Does that cover the waterfront?

A hint to the powers-that-be occupying the Southern Baptist head shed: They, and Southern Baptist ministers, should indeed be concerned about the environment but not the earthly one having to do with recycling, blue bags, plastic bottles and the like. The warming they — and their church members — should be preaching, teaching and witnessing about is the fiery heat the unsaved will feel the second their ticker stops if they do not know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as their personal savior. I don’t know whether the fire in hell will be global or not — there probably will not be a globe at that point — but it will be eternal; and it will not be green. It will be a fire-and-brimstone burning red.

That’s the real message. Proclaim that one and leave the icebergs to God to attend to. He seems to have done an excellent job so far.
