Cahaba Baptists, Judson to host Horse Whisperer

Cahaba Baptists, Judson to host Horse Whisperer

On May 14, the Horse Whisperer will return to Judson College in Marion with an important message — the way to salvation.

"Our No. 1 goal is reaching the lost folks," Paul Daily, of Jena, La., said of his horse-taming demonstration, which will take place in Judson’s new covered riding arena.

This will be the second time for Judson to host Daily in conjunction with Cahaba Baptist Association.

"It was such a great event that the local association wanted to do it again," said Michael Brooks, assistant to the president for public relations at Judson.

The last show in 2005 drew about 1,000 people, but an even larger crowd is anticipated this time, as the association is publicizing the event throughout the community.

"(The demonstration) has a unique way of presenting the gospel," said Bill Wallace, director of missions for Cahaba Association.

Starting with a young, unbroken horse, Daily gentles the animal over the course of just two hours until it can be bridled, saddled and ridden.

All the while, he presents his "Round Pen of Life," which compares the gentling of a horse to people’s relationship with Jesus.

"As we work the horse, we relate that this is how God wants to work in us," Daily explained.

In addition to his demonstration at Judson, he will be presenting shows in conjunction with four other Alabama Baptist associations during the week of May 10.

Daily will start May 12 with Colbert-Lauderdale Association at the Long Horn Arena in Tuscumbia. The next day, he will visit Fayette Association at the County Multi-Purpose Complex in Fayette.

On May 15, Daily will take his demonstration to Cleburne Association at Gibbs Farm in Ranburne and finish with Central Association the next day at the Coosa County Cattleman’s Building in Hanover.
