Students from across the state gathered at Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, for the state Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament April 26.

Sonya Tucker, associate in the office of discipleship and family ministries at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, said, "It is an awesome privilege to work with students who take a stand for their beliefs, who have memorized Scripture and who have developed skills for using the Bible effectively."

Junior high students can participate in Bible Drill, while high school students can participate in both the Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament. Tucker said participation in the high school drill has increased significantly over the past few years.

Four youth drillers out of the 37 participating had perfect scores — meaning the students scored 300 points without any bonus points. Seven out of the 19 high school drillers had perfect scores as well. (TAB)
