Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School will host the 20th annual Beeson Pastors School July 23–27.
About 450 participants attend the event representing a variety of denominations and locations throughout the United States and abroad.
Following the theme Proclaiming the Mystery, Beeson faculty and other Christian leaders will lead workshops centering on topics of Bible and theology, Christian living and spirituality, ministry and leadership, and preaching and worship. Richard Bewes, rector of All Souls Church, London, England, will be the daily Bible teacher. Cliff Barrows, longtime music and program director for Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, will lead worship sessions.
Featured preachers for evening sessions are Bryan Chapell, president of Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., Monday; Jim Garlow, lead pastor of Skyline Church, San Diego, Calif., Tuesday; Calvin Miller, Beeson professor of research and distinguished writer in residence, Wednesday; and James Earl Massey, dean emeritus and distinguished professor-at-large, Anderson University School of Theology, Thursday.
The women’s track, A Drink from the Spring, will focus on prayer and will be led by Vickie Gaston, Birmingham’s Advent Prayer Ministry coordinator. Author Denise George will speak from her book "God’s Gentle Whisper: Developing a Responsive Heart to God."
Special programs are available for children from sixth through 12th grades. Child care is offered for those lodging on campus.
A pre-conference seminar, Reexamining the Gospel of Grace, will be led by teacher and writer Fran Sciacca July 23.
