Glowing reviews, high graduation rates and successful award-winning students put Samford University at the head of the class in Alabama and across the nation in a recent study. Conducted by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, a not-for-profit research organization based in Washington, the study ranked Samford first in the state and 27th overall among all national universities.
Samford is the highest-ranked evangelical university on the list and the second highest traditionally Baptist institution.
"We always are pleased with national recognition," said Samford President Andrew Westmoreland, "because it affirms the work of our faculty, students, alumni, staff and friends in building the strong academic reputation of Samford University. That this latest recognition is based on research involving our outstanding faculty, graduation rates, student involvement and quality of life makes it even more meaningful."
Other high-ranking Alabama schools were the University of Alabama (UA), Birmingham-Southern College (BSC) and Auburn University. UA ranked 42nd among all U.S. universities and seventh among America’s public universities, while BSC ranked 24th among all liberal arts schools. Auburn ranked 46th among national public universities and 98th among all national universities.
Complete evaluation results are posted at www.forbes.com and are scheduled for publication in the May 19 issue of Forbes magazine. (SU, TAB)
