The North American Mission Board recently commissioned four new missionaries to Alabama during services in Chesapeake, Va.
Nathan "Nate" and Alicia Diehl are serving in Gulf Shores, where he has been appointed as associate director of missions for resort and campus ministries with Baldwin Baptist Association. His ministry involves reaching out to people visiting area RV parks and beaches and at other local community events. He also serves as the Baptist campus minister at Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette.
A native of Ohio, Nate Diehl earned a bachelor of science degree in pastoral ministry at the University of Mobile (UM). Prior to his new post, he served as director for Gulf Area Resort Ministries and director of the Baptist Campus Ministry for Baldwin Association.
Alicia Diehl, an Alabama native, earned a bachelor of science degree in music education at UM. She is a music teacher in the Mobile County Public Schools. The Diehls have one son, Zach, 1.
Ramon and Maria Rivas are serving in Hamilton, where he has been named as a church-planting missionary for Hispanic churches.
Prior to his new assignment, Ramon Rivas served as a church planter for the Northwest Alabama Hispanic Coalition in Hamilton and as pastor of several Hispanic churches in Texas and Oregon.
The Rivases both attended Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary (now Baptist University of the Américas) in San Antonio. They have one daughter, Isabel, 17. (NAMB)
