About 75 Alabama Baptists heard about church-planting efforts during a dinner provided for them Feb. 26. The dinner, held in conjunction with the Alabama Baptist State Evangelism Conference at Lakeside Baptist Church, Birmingham, featured four leading Baptists in the area of church planting.
Charles Dent, pastor of New Generation Baptist Church, Mobile, said, "I’m excited about what God is doing because He is constantly adding people to the fold." New Generation Baptist started two years ago and now has 210 members.
Gary Swafford, director of associational missions and church planting for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, said, "We are raising awareness of the need for church planting, telling the story that it can be done if we work together. Let’s plant churches so the kingdom of God can grow." (TAB)
